The "Rodeo"

The Rodeo is our popular medium size knife. The Rodeo is 7 inches overall, with a 2 5/8 inch blade. This knife has a thick and rugged drop point blade that has enough belly,(the curve on the edge) to slice well and enough point to make a good earmarking knife. The spine has a series of file work grooves just in front of the handle. This makes an excellent place to rest a thumb or finger for detail work. This knife feels really good in the hand and has an excellent balance. This blade is hollow ground to a razor sharp edge. This grind helps the knife to maintain it's edge through rugged and rough use. The Rodeo is made of 440C stainless steel. It has a rockwell hardness of 56-58. This hardness enables the knife to hold its edge for a long period of time. These knives are handmade to your order specifications. You choose the handle material and sheath style. Please allow APPROXIMATELY 16 weeks for completion of your handmade knife. Any Dymondwood handle comes standard with this knife for the base price. (Please refer to Handle Material Options at the bottom of this page). An Oil Tan, Slotted sheath is included in price. Options include a brass or nickel silver bolster, spacers, mosaic pins and filework on the spine of the knife.
The Rodeo is also available in D2 Tool Steel. D2 is a premium grade steel famous for its edge holding ability. It has a high chromium and high carbon content, which results in superior abrasion resistance and toughness. These blades have been cryogenically quenched during the heat treating process for optimal edge holding ability. The Rockwell hardness is 61. While D2 is superior for edge holding ability, it is more difficult to re-sharpen. Filework is available at an additional cost on the D2 Rodeo's. The D2 Rodeo is flat ground and finished in matte grey.
This D2 option adds $10.00 to the base price of the Rodeo.
