The "El Toro"

The El Toro is our largest knife at 7 3/4 inches overall. The blade measures 3 inches. A classic drop point hunter, this knife's hollow ground blade is thin enough to provide great slicing action with it's razor edge. A hand filling and comfortable handle enables this blade to be controlled easily. This is an excellent all-around utility/hunting knife, big enough and rugged enough for any job. This knife is made of AUS 8 stainless steel. The Rockwell hadness is 58-60. This hardness provides a very durable, sharp and long lasting edge. A little extra time is needed to sharpen this harder steel. These knives are handmade to your order specifications. You choose the handle material and sheath style. Please allow APPROXIMATELY 16 weeks for completion of your handmade knife. Any Dymondwood handle comes standard with this knife for the base price. (Please refer to Handle Material Options at the bottom of this page). An Oil Tan, Slotted sheath is included in price. Options include a brass or nickel silver bolster, spacers, mosaic pins and filework on the spine of the knife.
The El Toro is also available in D2 Tool Steel. D2 is a premium grade steel famous for its edge holding ability. It has a high chromium and high carbon content, which results in superior abrasion resistance and toughness. These blades have been cryogenically quenched during the heat treating process for optimal edge holding ability. The Rockwell hardness is 61. While D2 is superior for edge holding ability, it is more difficult to re-sharpen. These D2 blades are finished in matte grey.
This D2 option adds $10.00 to the base price of the El Toro.
